Part 1: Family
A place from my hometown, which is also my current town, is the nursery. Hedgewick Farms is a standard nursery that sells whatever is in season. From all kinds of plants, trees, mulch, flowers, pumpkins, garden supplies, etc., this nursery has always been the place my family and I go for the season's decorations. My favorite memory of Hedgewick is buying pumpkins and the famous picking of the Christmas tree. This activity is not only my favorite of the season, but I was always urging my parents to take me there as soon as Thanksgiving was over. Running through all the trees with my gloves and scarf on as I sniffled until I got home and was warm again is what I yearned for. The smell of the trees surrounding us and the hundreds upon hundreds of different types, sizes, and textures, was exhilarating. It wasn't just being at the nursery, it was everything that followed the event. After we picked the perfect tree and they strapped it to the top of our car, I knew there was the decoration process to follow, and the rest of the house as well. I love the cold weather outside and then entering the warm house and sit by the fire with the tree right in view, I still love this feeling with just a more mature twist on it.
This has to be related to my family connection because this would not be as special if I didn't have such a strong relationship them. We are always laughing and joking about anything and everything today, and that is rooted from when I was younger. My family is crazy but it takes all four of us to create that crazy unit.
The most recent time I was at Hedgewick was with my boyfriend to get a pumpkin over October break, and it's easy to say that this tradition will always continue with whomever and whatever, as long as I am living in New Jersey.
